Charles Woodson Didn’t Hesitate to Name Position Travis Hunter Should Play in NFL

Charles Woodson became a legendary figure for the Oakland Raiders after being a stud on both sides of the ball for Michigan and winning the Heisman Trophy in 1997. Woodson was recently a guest on "The Rush with Maxx Crosby" and was asked about a similar two-way prospect, Colorado's Travis Hunter, and weighed in on what position he should play at the NFL level.

"He's not the type of player you want to just have on the sideline for 50-60 snaps in a game," said Woodson. "I would play him as a defensive back, but offensively, I'm gonna have a package here or there, depending on our matchups that week."

Woodson dedicated himself to playing cornerback exclusively in the NFL, but he does not want the same fate for Hunter. He seems to believe that the Colorado product can play both ways at the professional level, as long as he comes off the field for a bit to rest and recover.

Hunter faced similar doubts when he transitioned from high school to FCS Jackson State, and then again when he transferred to FBS Colorado. However, he was both the best cornerback and wide receiver for the Buffaloes the last two seasons, and coach Deion Sanders could not afford to have him leave the field. Perhaps an NFL team will feel the same way, or maybe they'll land somewhere in the middle as Woodson does.
