On Tuesday, the Boston Celtics will host the Miami Heat as they look to extend their longest winning streak of the season to 10 games. The Heat may be 34-41 on the season, but they have won five in a row and hope to rise higher in the playoff seedings.
With only seven games left, the Celtics comfortably own the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. They are only four games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers for the No. 1 seed. The Heat are far behind the Celtics in the standings, and catching up with them is far out of the question. However, games like this could determine if the Celtics will get another rematch with the Heat in the playoffs.
For the Heat, they have been playing without newly acquired forward Andrew Wiggins.
Wiggins has not played since March 27 because of tendinopathy in his right hamstring. Ahead of Miami's match-up against Boston, the Heat announced Wiggins will miss a third straight game with this hamstring injury.
The Celtics are very familiar with Wiggins' game, as he played a pivotal role in their loss to the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals because of his defense on Jayson Tatum. His absence could make it easier for the Celtics' win streak to reach double digits.
Speaking with reporters recently (via Ira Winderman), Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said of Wiggins, "I don't have any timetable on it. But he's definitely making some progress."
This was a vague update, and the 2022 NBA champion remains out for now.
