NBA Investigation on Ja Morant Divides Fans

NBA fans are split over the league's latest decision on Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant.

On Tuesday, Morant went viral after he was seen doing a finger gun motion during their game against the Golden State Warriors. The Grizzlies star received plenty of backlash for his behavior due to his history with guns.

To recall, Morant was suspended twice by the NBA for brandishing firearms back in 2023. The first incident got him an eight-game suspension after he was seen with a gun in a Denver night club. The league was harsher the second time around, slapping the Grizzlies guard with a 25-game suspension after showing what appears to be a gun in a friend's Instagram Live feed.

As a result, the NBA is said to be "looking" into his gun gesture against the Warriors.

"The NBA is looking into Memphis' Ja Morant using finger gun motions toward the Golden State Warriors bench last night, sources tell me and @espn_macmahon," Shams Charania of ESPN reported.

As mentioned, the league's probe of Ja Mortant's action divided the fans, with many arguing whether or not the NBA is overreacting.

"Its called a pattern lol eventually Ja needs to be responsible for his own actions and the repercussions. And with so many eyes and social media even if the warriors didnt react someone wouldve noticed," a critic shared. Another one said, "He will never learn."

A commenter pointed out, "At some point, it's not about symbolism, it's about judgment. Ja's gotta tighten up."

"Bro doesn't learn. Don't think he ever will," a social media user shared.

A fan, however, highlighted, "Man this has been a celebration in basketball for years! Countless players have done it, Because SHOOTERS SHOOT!"

A supporter added, "Y'all gotta let this go man. Not that deep at all."

"Leave this dude alone man," a poster pleaded.

It remains to be seen what the NBA will do in light of the controversy. Sure enough, though, Ja Morant himself doesn't look bothered by the development based on his reaction to the news.
