The Denver Nuggets have been thriving under the leadership of Nikola Jokic all season, currently listed as the No. 3 team in the Western Conference standings.
Denver is 47-29 on the season, having recently suffered a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves where Jokic posted some of the best numbers of his career.
Jokic finished the game with 61 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists; the only 60-point triple-double with a loss in NBA history.
Following their matchup against the Timberwolves, the Nuggets are set to play in the second night of a back-to-back, hosting the San Antonio Spurs at Ball Arena.
As the Nuggets prepare for the postseason, the health of Jokic is of all-time importance.
He has been ruled out for the game against the Spurs due to an ankle injury, per RotoWire. While the severity of the injury is unknown, it's a tough blow for Denver, who will need their MVP-caliber player for a playoff push.
So far this season, Jokic has averaged 29.7 points, 12.8 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game, the only player in the NBA to be ranked in the top three in all major statistical categories.
He's currently vying for his fourth MVP award, which would put the Nuggets center in a prestigious list with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, LeBron James and Wilt Chamberlain as the only players to ever do so.
Jokic will have an opportunity to return to the lineup when the Nuggets face the Golden State Warriors on Friday at 10 p.m. ET.
