The Los Angeles Chargers were selected as the NFL's designated team for the second-ever regular-season game in São Paulo, Brazil as part of the 2025 International Games.
Their opponent has still not been officially announced, but it seems as if the NFL is closing in on an opponent, and it would be one heck of an AFC West matchup.
The Kansas City Chiefs are the team that the league seems to have settled on to face the Chargers in South America to begin the regular season. The Athletic's Nate Taylor and Daniel Popper reported that the reigning AFC Champions are the team to watch.
"According to multiple league sources, the Chiefs are the No. 1 franchise in consideration by the league to take on the Chargers in the stand-alone game that is up for bid among the league's broadcasting partners."

The Chiefs are coming off of a Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and they are looking for revenge this season. They were not able to complete the three-peat, but they will settle for another win in the big game this year.
The Chargers finished second in the AFC West right behind the Chiefs this past season after having a rough 2023. Head coach Jon Harbaugh has turned the team from one of the bottom teams in the league into a playoff contender in just one season.
If the Chiefs end up getting chosen as the opponent for the South America game, they will look to start the year off right against their biggest division rival.
