Arsenal Told to Secure Man Utd Transfer Target Who Will Cost Over £60M, Has PSG Clause

Paris Saint-Germain initially took a short-term approach by loaning Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig for another season, but the German club has now secured him on a permanent transfer.

As part of the deal, PSG included a sell-on clause, which could come into play depending on future developments.

According toCaughtOffside, Manchester United may have an edge over Manchester City in the race to sign Simons next summer.

Transfer expertFabrizio Romano confirmed that Leipzig officially signed Simons from PSG in a deal worth €80 million, including add-ons. The initial fee is €55 million, with a sell-on clause attached.

Romano also reported that Simons is under contract until June 2027, but he could be on the move again as early as this summer, with multiple clubs already showing interest.

Recently,Romano reported that Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea are all monitoring Simons. Amid the rumors linking Simons to the Gunners,Charles Watts noted in his Daily Briefing column that the Dutchman is a player the English side need.

“I’m a big fan of Xavi Simons, who has once again been linked with Arsenal. He’s a player they have looked at in the past.

“He’s the type of player that Ireally think they need to add to the squad, which is why I hope their attacking reinforcements this summer do not just stop with a striker,” Watts noted.

“Ireally think they need more than that, whether that be anotherout and out left winger or a playmaker type, like Simons, who could play out wide or in a more central role behind the forward.

“He will be expensive, certainly over £60 million, you would think, and that might be a problem, given Arsenal are going to have to commit at least £120m or so on a new striker and a new midfielder, probably Martin Zubimendi.

“A new backup keeper also has to be secured, so it’s shaping up to be a summerwhich will see a significant outlay from Arsenal in the transfer market.

“Whether that will stop them being able to push the boat out for Simons or someone similar could well depend on whether they manage to bring in some money from sales. As I said, I think it would be worth it because this squad is crying out for a bit of unpredictability in attack.”
