SYDNEY -- Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has criticized the imposition of a 10% tariff on the country's exports to the U.S., calling it "not the act of a friend," but he ruled out retaliatory measures.
U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled sweeping ["reciprocal tariffs"](https://asia.nikkei.com/Economy/Trade-war/Trump-reveals-reciprocal-tariffs-34-on-China-24-on-Japan2) on Thursday local time, hitting countries with some levies of up to 49%. China was hit with an added 34% tariff, South Korea was tagged with a 25% rate and Japan was slapped with 24%.
