On March 31, Chinese Ambassador to PNG, H.E. Yang Xiaoguang attended the opening ceremony of the New Enga Provincial Hospital in Enga Province. PNG Prime Minister Hon. James Marape, Governor of Enga Province and many other PNG dignitaries attended this event.

Ambassador Yang said that both the Chinese Government and the PNG Government attach great importance to the development of national health sectors. The New Enga Provincial Hospital is a concrete deliverable of the Belt and Road Initiative and a vivid reflection of the idea of building a community with a shared future for mankind. The Chinese side is willing to help PNG to build a more resilient health system and strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the medical and health sectors.

Prime Minister Marape expressed gratitude to the Chinese government and the Export-Import Bank of China for their loan support in constructing the New Enga Provincial Hospital. He said that the inauguration of the hospital symbolizes the shared determination of the PNG government and its people to build a healthier and more prosperous nation.
During the visit to Enga Province, Ambassador Yang inspected projects undertaken by Guangdong Foreign Construction Company and China Harbour Engineering Company, visited their residential compounds and extended his regards to the employees. He urged the companies to uphold principles of Integrity and Compliance operations, actively fulfill social responsibilities, and further contribute to the advancement of China-PNG bilateral relations.
