Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with a move away which could help United generate more profit.

Man United are due for a busy transfer window this summer where they expect to see several players exit and join as Ruben Amorim aims to complete a squad transformation at Old Trafford.

One player that could be on his way out is winger Alejandro Garnacho, who was linked with a move to Chelsea and Napoli in the January window. Due to him being an academy product, Garnacho would produce ‘pure profit’ regarding Profit and Sustainability Rules.

He is expected to command a transfer fee of close to £70m, which would give United a huge financial boost to help rejuvenate their squad. According to recent reports, Serie A side Napoli are set to offer United a £67m fee to try and sign the 20-year-old whose scored four goals in 29 Premier League games.

Man United linked to Eze to replace Garnacho

If the Red Devils do sell Garnacho, they will be keen to bring in a replacement who can play in one of the two ‘attacking midfield’ roles that Amorim likes to play up front with a striker in his 3-4-3.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, that player could be Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze who has reportedly become a priority target for Man United as they look to reinforce their squad in the summer. They report the interest in the player is strong but a potential move could be complicated by a £60m asking price from Palace.

The England international is the sort of difference-maker that Man United could do with in attack due to the fact that they have struggled to find creative outlets for goals this season.

United could sell Garnacho, sign Eze and have funds to spend elsewhere. They can split Eze’s fee over the length of his contract, so if they signed him on a five-year deal it would only count as £12m when accounting for PSR.

It is a move that would make sense financially, and provide United with a proven Premier League difference-maker, who could thrive in Amorim’s system.

Eze is a cheaper alternative to Xavi Simons

Eze isn’t the only attacking midfielder to have been linked with Man United. The position is a priority as Amorim needs to bring in players capable of playing in his formation.

The Crystal Palace star plays a similar style of game to fellow United-linked attacker Xavi Simons, who is playing for RB Leipzig. He was on loan at Leipzig last summer, but made his move permanent for a fee of £42m.

He has eight goals and five assists for the Bundesliga club, who could decide to cash in on him in the summer. A recent report has linked him to Man United alongside other Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

He is expected to cost around £60m, making him a more expensive option than Eze, however, the benefit of Simons is the fact that he is just 21 compared to Eze who is 26 and already in his prime.

However, looking at the numbers, Eze is having a better season than Simons, and he also has a lot of experience playing in the Premier League and alongside the likes of Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo in the England team.
