A look at the early injury news surrounding Arsenal and Everton as they prepare to face off in the Premier League.
Arsenal picked up a win on Tuesday night, seeing off Fulham at home in what was a solid display and a relatively comfortable win despite the game finishing 2-1. Focus now shifts to a date with Everton, who have been much improved since the arrival of David Moyes.
Orel Mangala - Out
Mangala is out for the season and beyond due to a serious knee injury. Moyes said in January: “Mangala will go back. I think we're waiting for the surgeon to clear it. I think he will be operated on in France, as far as we know.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin - Out
Calvert-Lewin is battling to return before the end of the season. Moyes has said: “We might see them all - Ndiaye, DCL, or McNeil - become very close to returning. Maybe not quite right away, but certainly much closer.”
Dwight McNeil - Out
McNeil is likely to return in late April at the earlier. Moyes has said: “I don’t think we’re necessarily going to have any of them back after the [international] break, but we’ve got three boys there - Dwight, Ili and Dom - who we could all do with seeing back if we could.”
Iliman Baroy Ndiaye - Out
Ndiaye is likely to return from a knee injury in the next couple of weeks, but it won’t be here.
Jesper Lindstrom - Doubt
Linstrom picked up a groin strain before the Liverpool game and will be a doubt here.
Gabriel Jesus - Out
Jesus is out for the season after he ruptured his ACL early in the year. A statement read at the time: “Further to being substituted during our match with Man United, Gabriel Jesus has received extensive assessments, which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the ACL in his left knee.”
Takehiro Tomiyasu - Out
Tomiyasu’s season is over after he required a further procedure to correct a knee issue. A statement read: “Despite an initial procedure, followed by a RTT, Tomi continued to have issues with his knee, resulting in a further corrective surgical procedure. He will now begin his rehab programme, which is expected to be completed towards the end of this year.”
Kai Havertz - Out
Another player whose season has drawn to a close, Havertz required surgery on a hamstring issue. Arteta said at the time: “We were having a great camp in Dubai recharging, training, having some time off and connecting again with nature in a different environment, and then the injury happened in a very unexpected way.”
Riccardo Calafiori - Doubt
Arteta has said: “Calafiori unfortunately picked up a knee injury with the national team. It was really unfortunate how that injury happened, but it could have been much worse. So, hopefully, it's going to be a matter of weeks. But we have to see how the injury evolves.”
Ben White - Doubt
White could be back here, but it remains unclear with Arteta having said on Tuesday: “He had a little niggle two days ago. Yesterday we tried. He wasn’t feeling right, so we decided not to put him in the squad today.”
Gabriel Magalhaes - Doubt
Gabriel is a fresh doubt, with Arteta saying: “Gabi felt something in his hamstring. We don't know how big that is.”
Jurrien Timber - Doubt
Timber is likely to miss out having picked up a fresh issue. Arteta said after the Fulham game: “With Jurrien as well, he was already struggling [with his knee] very early in the game. He managed to continue and at some point, he couldn't, so, that's the downside to it.” Until Timber is ruled out, we will keep him as a doubt.
