Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is healthy again and the two-time Finals MVP hopes to stay that way going into the offseason.
Leonard told Law Murray of The Athletic that his goal is to be healthy once the season ends so he doesn't have to rehab an injury during the summer again.
"I want to get to the summer healthy," Leonard said. "So I can have a great summer and come in and have a good year overall. That's what I'm banking on, that's what I'm praying for. And hopefully it happens for me."
Leonard's last three postseasons were cut short due to injuries. He tore his right ACL in the 2021 playoffs and his right meniscus in the 2023 playoffs.
The future Hall of Famer had inflammation in his right knee in the 2024 playoffs and was unable to play after two games against the Dallas Mavericks.
"My goal is to be healthy at the end of the season, so I can have a good summer and not worry about doing a whole rehab process again, missing training camp," Leonard said.
A two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Leonard has appeared in 31 games for the Clippers this season. He's averaging 20.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 48.8% from the field, 39.2% from beyond the arc and 80.0% from the foul line.
"I've been pushing to play every game, more minutes," Leonard said. "You know, I've had an unfortunate past. And I'm just trying to do whatever it takes to … get to this offseason healthy. That's my main focus right now."
With Leonard and James Harden leading the way, the Clippers are 43-32 under head coach Tyronn Lue.
