Ruben Amorim on the touchline.
Head coach Ruben Amorim has plenty of work to do at Manchester United.
Manchester United returned to their ways this week with another uninspiring performance at Nottingham Forest. Ex-United forward Anthony Elanga grabbed the game's only goal - sparking fresh question marks over why he was allowed to leave the club.
Elanga left United in 2023 and after, helping the club stay in the Premier League last season, he's now firing Forest to the Champions League. With the struggles at Old Trafford and a lack of conviction by their attackers, they could do with him.
That defeat places further emphasis on the need for reinforcements in the summer transfer window. Here, The Manchester Evening News takes a look at the latest transfer news and gossip linking a new face to Old Trafford;
Eze bid incoming
One player that would improve United right now and hit the ground running is Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze. The England international is one of the Premier League's best attacking midfielders and, according to reports, an offer could come soon.
Spanish outlet Fichajes have claimed that United are preparing a bid for the creative midfielder - after being "identified" as a dream target for the summer. The report states a bid worth £50million could be on the table.
However, Palace are said to want closer to £60million.
MEN Sport says: "One of my biggest complaints around United's transfer strategy ahead of the summer transfer window is their constant focus on bringing in young players. That's all well and good, but the problem with that is that you are left with a group of players lacking experience.
"It happens so many times in football. Chelsea have struggled with it in recent years and United are heading in the same direction. Eze counters that and at 26, boasts experience at the top level.
"He's been destined for a big move in recent years and United could be the perfect next step now. At £60million, you're getting a playmaker who will slot perfectly behind the striker in Amorim's system."

Unsuccessful offer
As United plan bids for other targets, they have reportedly had their "first offer" turned down for Barcelona wing-back Alejandro Balde. The bid is said to be around £42million, a fee below Barcelona's valuation.
It's said that the young Spain international has caught the attention of Ruben Amorim, who's expected to look at strengthening his wing-back options in the summer.
The bid was "instantly rejected" by the Catalan giants and luring him away from the Nou Camp will prove difficult.
MEN Sport says: "I don't particularly think United need a new left-back. Luke Shaw is still at the club, but Patrick Dorgu has done more than enough to warrant a place in the team for next season. Moves for players in positions that are a priority has to be the focus for Sir Jim Ratcliffe. A new striker, midfielder and wide attacker are areas of Amorim's squad that need improving.
"Spending over £50million for another defender wouldn't be the best decision made."
