Ever since Sean McDermott was hired as head coach of the Buffalo Bills, the team has found ways to locate top defensive talent in the Draft to fit their scheme on an underrated unit.
Buffalo could be at it again, at least in the latest mock draft.
ESPN's Field Yates ran through a mock draft Wednesday where the Bills traded out of the first round with the New England Patriots and ended up selecting former Michigan product Kenneth Grant in the early portion of the second round.
"At 331 pounds, Grant would help fortify the Bills' run defense up the middle and assist in collapsing the pocket as an interior pass rusher, " Yates wrote, " He had three sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss in 12 games last season."
Grant is considered a true run stuffer but has shown enough in his own run with the Wolverines that shows he can be a quality pass rusher as well. If he can be similar to a player like former first-round pick Jordan Davis with the Philadelphia Eagles, he could be a perfect fit for the Bills moving forward.
Buffalo still has a top defensive tackle in Ed Oliver, but the organization will need more moving forward at the tackle spot.
Especially with Larry Ogunjobi, the top defensive tackle signed by the organization, was suspended for the first six weeks due to violating the league's PED policy.
With a clear need at defensive tackle, a trade-down for Grant would make a lot of sense for Buffalo moving forward.
