Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard is now the overwhelming favorite to bring home the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Pritchard's odds have skyrocketed to -1200 as of Wednesday, a significant jump from earlier in the season. Back in February, the Celtic was listed at just -175.
Pritchard's closest competitor, Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley, sits at +600, while no other player has odds better than +2000.
Pritchard's rise to the top of the betting market has been fueled by his consistent contributions off the bench for a Boston team sitting near the top of the Eastern Conference. The fifth-year player is averaging 14.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 28.3 minutes per game this season. Meanwhile, the former Duck is shooting 46.5% from the field and 41.1% from three-point range.
At this point in the season, DraftKings' odds suggest the award is essentially Pritchard's to lose. Beasley remains in contention, but with such a steep gap, it would take a drastic late-season shift to change the race.
Pritchard and the Celtics return to action on Friday, April 4, when they host the Phoenix Suns at TD Garden. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. PST.
