Disaster continues for Man United loan star as former manager slams 'bad buy'

Manchester United stars out on loan this season have enjoyed mixed success.

Under Ineos, there has been a focus on thinning Ruben Amorim’s squad ahead of a summer overhaul at Manchester United.

Ineos want to raise £100m in the summer and much of that will come from selling stars currently out on loan.

Marcus Rashford has impressed at Aston Villa and a £40m buy option will likely see him leave United permanently in the summer. Similarly, United have put a £40m price tag on Antony following his brilliant run of form at Real Betis.

There are currently 17 United players out on loan, but for some, it hasn’t been as successful as it has been for Rashford and Antony.

Tyrell Malacia slammed as a ‘bad buy’ for PSV

After returning from a lengthy absence, Tyrell Malacia failed to find a natural spot in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system and he was loaned to PSV in January.

However, Malacia’s loan spell in the Netherlands has not turned out as he expected. Malacia was told to return to Manchester by PSV legend Rene Van de Kerkhof.

PSV’s defensive record has been terrible this season and Malacia has not managed to turn things around – Malacia conceded seven against Arsenal in the Champions league which only provoked more criticism.

Dutch ESPN pundit Marciano Vink suggested PSV signing Malacia was a ‘mistake’ and now former PSV manager Aad de Mos has had his say.

As quoted by Dutch outlet ED, De Mos said: “Malacia is a bad buy. He gives Traore a free pass to score. The back positions at PSV are not filled properly anyway.”

Malacia was at fault for PSV conceding on the weekend when they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Ajax.

Tyrell Malacia’s record on loan at PSV

Since returning to The Netherlands, Malacia has made nine appearances for PSV across the Champions League and Eredivisie.

In the Eredivisie, Malacia has only won two of his first six games with the club, with PSV conceding nine goals in the process.

PSV’s Champions League campaign also came crashing to an end when they lost 9-3 to Arsenal on aggregate.

Malacia particularly struggled against Arsenal, and questions have been raised about his poor defensive record.

In his nine PSV games, they have conceded 19 goals, an average of more than two per match. PSV can sign Malacia permanently this summer if they trigger an £8.3million buy clause.

As things stand, that seems unlikely.
