Israeli army orders more evacuations in northern Gaza

**ISTANBUL**

The Israeli army issued evacuation warnings Wednesday for new areas in northern Gaza ahead of bombings.

“Residents of the neighborhoods of Tal al-Zaatar, Al-Noor, Al-Rawda, Al-Salam, Al-Nahda, Al-Tuffah, Al-Zuhur, Sheikh Zayed, Al-Manshiyah and Jabalia Camp must evacuate immediately,” Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said in a statement on X.

Adraee said “this is a prior and final warning before the attack” on these neighborhoods, which are located in Beit Hanoun and Jabalia.

“For your safety, you must immediately move to shelter centers in Gaza City,” he added, even though there are no functioning shelters in Gaza.

Israeli evacuation warnings have continued in various parts of the Gaza Strip. On Tuesday, the army issued orders to evacuate several neighborhoods in Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, including the Beit Lahia Project area and the neighborhoods of Sheikh Zayed, Al-Manshiyah and Tal al-Zaatar.

This was followed by another evacuation warning for areas in Rafah city of southern Gaza.

On Saturday, the Israeli army issued similar evacuation orders for residents of three towns in the city of Khan Younis, also in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli forces began a surprise aerial campaign on Gaza on March 18 and has killed more than 1,000 people and injured over 2,000, shattering a January ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.

Before the resumption of its genocide in Gaza, Israel also closed Gaza crossings in early March, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid and goods to people in the Palestinian enclave.

More than 50,400 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in Israel's military onslaught since October 2023, most of them women and children.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
