Southampton manager Ivan Jurić singled out Paul Onuachu for praise following his side's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in a Premier League match at the St. Mary's Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Saints came close to securing their third Premier League win of the season but were denied all three points in stoppage time when Matheus Franca netted his first goal in Crystal Palace colours with a flicked header at the near post.
Onuachu opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a towering header that found the bottom corner, putting an end to Crystal Palace’s eight-game clean sheet streak across all competitions.
The Nigeria international had two late chances to double the advantage in the first half but failed to make the most of a wayward Palace pass or an overhit delivery from Kyle Walker-Peters.
Onuachu impressed with his physical presence and link-up play, and his goal was crucial in securing a point for the home team.
Assessing the performance of Onuachu, Juric said on [BBC Match of the Day](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/live/c778z0v267vt): "Onuachu was really good, when he is full of energy he can be really good, he did good work".
After firing blanks in his first twenty-two games as a Premier League player, Onuachu has now scored four goals in his last nine matches in the division and has one assist to his name.
