Following a dominant 143-105 victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, the Rockets improved to a 50-27 record and already clinched the playoffs. They now hold a four-game lead over the Los Angeles Lakers, who sit in third place at 46-29, though the Lakers have played two fewer games.
A key contributor to Houston’s success has been Dillon Brooks, who has excelled on both ends of the floor. In recognition of his impact, the team will reward him with a significant bonus.
According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Brooks will receive a $1 million bonus for helping the Rockets secure a playoff spot.
However, after factoring in a likely one-game suspension for receiving his 16th technical foul against the Jazz, he will net approximately $872K.
This season, Brooks has been a crucial piece for Houston, averaging 14.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 73 games. His strong two-way play has played a major role in the Rockets’ resurgence.
