Chelsea team news
Injuries to Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, and most recently, Cole Palmer have taken a toll on Chelsea, but all three are set to return for the Spurs clash. Palmer, who missed last month's game against Arsenal and withdrew from England duty with a thigh injury, was spotting back in training this week, and has been confirmed as fit by manager Enzo Maresca.
The Italian also revealed that Madueke and Jackson, both of whom re-joined first-team training late last month after recovering from hamstring issues are in line to play. However, with caution a priority, Maresca may decide to use them from the bench instead of in his starting XI.
He also revealed that Romeo Lavia had suffered a small problem in the build-up, and that he'd be "assessed" before kick off.

Tottenham team news
Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Lucas Bergvall and Kevin Danso are all expected back in the coming week or so, but their availability for the Chelsea clash remains uncertain. Bergvall appears ready, having recovered from the illness that sidelined him during Sweden's international fixtures.
Kulusevski faces a race against time, having been out since Spurs' defeat to Manchester City in February. Danso has a chance to feature but is unlikely to be rushed back, especially with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven fit again.
Richarlison, recovering from a calf injury, was expected to regain fitness over the international break. With Postecoglou optimistic about his progress, there's a strong chance he'll be in the squad for Thursday's game.

What's at stake?
Beyond local bragging rights, this clash could shape the race for Europe. Chelsea are pushing to solidify their top-four credentials, while Spurs need a win to keep pace in a congested table.
Maresca's men face a brutal run-in, with Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester United, and an in-form Nottingham Forest awaiting them in their final four league fixtures. Securing points early and building momentum is absolutely crucial.
Tottenham's hopes of European football remain alive, but consistency is key in the season's final stretch. A victory over Chelsea could provide the feel-good win they desperately need - though history isn't on their side, with just one Premier League victory at Stamford Bridge since the competition launched in 1992.

Head to head
Chelsea have a poor recent record against the other so-called 'big six' teams, but not against Tottenham. In fact, they've lost just twice since January 2019 in a run that stretches back 16 matches - and one of those defeats was on penalties in the League Cup.
Postecoglou has lost all three encounters against the Blues, with his side shipping four goals in two of them. Their last clash, back in December, ended in a 4-3 defeat, with Maresca's side battling back from 2-0 down to clinch victory.
Chelsea also dealt Postecoglou his very first defeat in the Premier League, beating his side 4-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after Spurs had made an unbeaten 10-match start to the 2023/24 campaign. And it's fair to say neither Tottenham, nor Postecoglou, have been the same since.
