Man Utd must be on red alert to sign'outstanding footballer'this summer - his club could be forced to sell - Opinion

Finances this summer will be stretched for Manchester United but there is one deal which is simply too good to pass up on.

Old Trafford could see a very different team in August, with the summer transfer window expected to see several changes made to the squad.

After a torrid campaign, Manchester United could get rid off at least 10 players, which will spark a rebuild challenge for the club to bring in replacements.

United are thought to have four priority positions, with one being to bolster the number 10 role. This is an area which has lacked creativity and goal threat in the Ruben Amorim system.

It is widely assumed that United will sign a youngster for the role with Chris Rigg and Tyler Dibling linked. But now it has emerged that there could be a market opportunity too good to ignore for Ineos.

Barcelona could be forced to sell Dani Olmo this summer

Despite being one of the world’s biggest clubs, Barcelona have had plenty of struggles off the field over the past few years in terms of their financials.

The La Liga giants have struggled to pay wages with Frenkie de Jong a relevant example as he refused to join United as he wanted the money he was owed.

There have also been examples of Barcelona struggling to register players, with Dani Olmo being one victim of this. Due to this, Olmo was heavily linked with a January transfer before the club triggered financial levers to manage to register him.

However, now, according to Guillem Balague, La Liga is set to demand Barceloa ‘deregister’ Olmo.

“La Liga has annulled Barcelona’s financial fair play manoeuvre that enabled the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, after the club’s new auditor excluded the €100 million (£83m) from VIP seat sales revenue they used to register the players (by the way, days after the deadline)—pushing the club’s finances beyond the permissible threshold.

“The decision comes amid conflicting financial reports, three different auditors in as many months. As a result, Barcelona no longer meets fair play requirements, won’t be able to sign players unless they sell, and La Liga plans to report the auditor to Spain’s Institute of Accounting and Auditing for malpractice.

“Meanwhile, the Spanish government—through its sports branch, the CSD—is expected to inform the club in the coming days, likely this week, whether it agrees with the resolution reached by La Liga and the Spanish FA that Barcelona must deregister Olmo and Víctor. The government is inclined to believe that players have the right to work, and deregistering them would effectively prevent them from doing so for the remainder of the season, whether at Barcelona or elsewhere.

“Basically, Barcelona have played with fire—they know it—and La Liga believes they’ve been burnt yet again, this time by financial ‘levers’ that don’t seem legitimate.”

Manchester United must swoop for Dani Olmo

United have been handed a golden chance this summer to sign Olmo with TBR finance expert Adam Williams defining the Catalan side as a “basket case”, meaning they face extreme financial peril.

With the Spanish government likely to give Olmo a ‘right to work’ until May, Barcelona will almost be forced to sell this summer with few options to get around the financial conditions they find themselves in.

So with United – or any other interested club – holding leverage over Barcelona, it could be an incredibly wise move to make this summer with Olmo ticking plenty of boxes for Amorim.

With eight goals and five assists this season in 28 games, he could be a real upgrade on the current options at Amorim’s disposal. Olmo is seen as an “outstanding footballer”, and if he were to arrive at United, he would instantly become a starter and get treated like he deserves, a huge comparison to how Barcelona have treated him.

Olmo and Amad as the two number 10s would be a sensational pairing and a duo Amorim could rely on.
