OKC Thunder Make NBA History in Victory Over Pistons

The Oklahoma City Thunder entered Wednesday's home matchup against the Detroit Pistons looking to extend their winning streak and that is exactly what they were able to do.

Oklahoma City got off to a scorching start to the game as they outscored Detroit 41-27 in the first quarter and they never looked back, defeating the Pistons 119-103 to extend their winning streak to 11 games.

Of course, the Pistons were able to keep the game close in the second half but with them being without their star point guard cade Cunningham, they were overmatched by the Thunder.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for the Thunder as he recorded 33 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks in the victory.

Chet Holmgren also played a key role in the victory as he recorded 22 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and six blocks while Jalen Williams added 23 points of his own.

With Oklahoma City defeating Detroit by 16 points, they made NBA history as Wednesday's game marked their 50th victory by 10 or more points this season, which ties the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers for the most in a single season in league history.

Of course, this record shows just how dominant the Thunder have been this season and why they are one of the favorites to win the championship this season.

This was not the only history the Thunder made in Wednesday's game though as they also finished with a 29-1 record against Eastern Conference teams this season, which is the best record for any team against the opposing conference in NBA history.

With the Thunder dominating once again, they are clearly the team to beat in the West once the playoffs begin as they have already clinched the top seed before any other West team has clinched a playoff birth.

They will now look to keep things rolling on Friday when they travel to take on the Houston Rockets.
