Jarrod Bowen has certainly led by example even during the most underwhelming of recent times at West Ham United.
The Hammers captain has been sensational from start to finish during his five years in East London, and has reached irreplaceable stature for the Irons.
Bowen, 28, has also been an admirable presence for the burgeoning clutch of youngsters at the London Stadium, who could become more prominent in time as some of the old guard soon reach the conclusion of their contracts.

Bowen reacts as West Ham contract signed
Bowen is one of several key figures at West Ham who are looked upon as examples in the squad, by those in the first-team dressing room and those working towards it.
One of those players is academy goalkeeper Lanre Awesu, who signed his first professional contract at the London Stadium as announced via the Hammers’ official Instagram page on Wednesday (2 April).
MORE WEST HAM STORIES
Bowen and fellow senior long-server Tomas Soucek both showed their support and congratulations for Awesu by liking the post.
It is bound to be a boost for the young stopper, who will eventually work towards the reckoning of Graham Potter.
Lukasz Fabianski turns 40 in a little over a fortnight’s time and is out of contract this summer, while Wes Foderingham has but a year left and was brought in merely as an experienced backup.
Awesu, 17, could in time challenge for a first-team role, with Alphonse Areola now reinstalled as the current Irons number one.
Potter will be keen for squad reshuffle
Perhaps ‘keen’ is in fact an understatement. Potter will be counting down the days until he can at least stamp some sort of marker on the West Ham squad.
He has been left to work with a squad undoubtedly possessing talent, but containing some who likely still don’t know what they are doing at the London Stadium, and fans none the wiser as to why they were brought in either.

It’s the reason both Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten are history in East London. The board have at least recognised a major clear-out and reshuffle must happen this summer in order not to take yet another huge backward stride.
West Ham have a canvas with plenty of potential, but have to get it right this time around – or fans will soon begin to vote with their feet.
