'He could fit' - Club expert wouldn't be surprised if Vitor Pereira tries forgotten Wolves man…

Wolves have eight games left to secure their Premier League status before attention turns to the summer transfer window.

Wolves were the country’s second-highest spenders in January and look to be in for another important window at the end of the season.

Vitor Pereira will have several important decisions to make, including what to do with some of Wolves’ first team loanees.

Vitor Pereira could consider Wolves loanee for interesting position

Wolves have several players out on loan, including winger Chiquinho, who joined Real Mallorca on a season-long loan last summer.

However, despite being in Spain for nearly 10 months, the Portuguese forward has featured in just nine games in all competitions.

Ahead of his contract expiring at the end of next season, Chiquinho faces an uncertain future at Molineux, and is likely to move on.

However, club expert Liam Keen has wondered if Pereira, who hasn’t had a chance to manage the 25-year-old yet, might try him in an unfamiliar role before deciding to cut him loose.

“I’m not convinced his career will perhaps be at Wolves in the long term,” Keen said on the Keen & Judah Show on ShotsTV.

“But, you look at Vitor Pereira and how he likes to play, he could fit in as a potential wing-back option, albeit, defensively we’ll probably have to improve quite a bit.”

The wing-back position is one Chiquinho has not had any experience playing in throughout his career to date.

Big gamble

Although Keen’s thoughts are fair, it is incredibly unlikely Wolves’ owners will persist with the underperforming forward.

Signed from Estoril Praia in January 2022, Chiquinho has had plenty of opportunities to impress, sadly, he has failed to take any, and now looks certain to depart.

Not only has the player failed to produce the performances expected of him, but it would be an unnecessary risk to take a player with less than one year remaining on his deal into a season to play him in such a demanding, and unfamiliar, role.
