This could include the departure of Jota, who has continued to struggle with injuries and hasn't really caught the eye on the pitch with his recent performances either.

Jota has always been a valuable member of the squad and was regarded as the most reliable in front of goal during Jurgen Klopp's reign.

But that has changed under Slot and the mounting injury problems means Liverpool are ready to move on and replace him with a younger and more available alternative.

This has seemingly led Hughes to an exciting Algerian attacker, who is tearing the Bundesliga apart this season.

Why Liverpool want Mohamed Amoura to replace Diogo Jota

One of Jota's best ability is the way he is able to shoot with both feet. He is a player who can score with his left and right foot which makes him unpredictable for opposition defenders and goalkeepers.

According to a report from L'Equipe, Liverpool are eyeing Mohamed Amoura of Wolfsburg with the German side willing to let him go for €40m.

Amoura has that exact trait as Jota, having scored multiple goals with his left and right foot this season and he's a player who can definitely make an impact in the final third.

The 24-year-old has 19 goal contributions in 24 Bundesliga matches. He's scored 10 goals and registered nine assists.

Last season he made 29 goal contributions for Union SG in 46 matches and played a key role in defeating Liverpool in the Europa League providing an assist and scoring a goal in his side's 2-1 victory.

The comparisons to Jota can go on endlessly, too. Amoura is capable of playing on the left and right wing as well as in a central position as a false nine, who can drop back and link-up with his teammates.

He is explosive and comfortable at taking players on. He puts in a lot of energy pressing the ball, too, which is essential in Slot's system at Liverpool.

Recently, he hit a hat-trick for his national team and it feels like he's just about to enter the prime years of his career. Having conquered the Bundesliga in one season, he's definitely ready for the next step in his career.
