For all the talk of a certain [Bryan Mbeumo arriving at St James' Park on Wednesday evening](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bryan-mbeumo-ready-ideal-newcastle-31332707), it was Newcastle United's very own right-winger reminding everyone, yet again, of the talent he possesses.
Jacob Murphy has made a habit of frequently supplying red-hot Alexander Isak this season and was at it once again in midweek, notching another assist for the Swedish superstar. It is the eighth time the winger has assisted the forward in the Premier League this term. Those statistics prove the Newcastle duo are far and away the most deadly combination in England at present.
Isak now has 20 top flight goals this season and is the first Newcastle player to reach that tally in successive Premier League campaigns. However, in a selfless gesture after finding the net at the Gallowgate End, the former Real Sociedad man made sure all the love was directed to Murphy for his latest inch-perfect assist.
Wheeling away to celebrate the game's opening goal, Isak went straight to his co-star and hoisted him high in the air as Murphy turned towards the Milburn Stand with his arms outstretched. It was a touching moment from one of the world's very best forwards, making sure his team-mate received his flowers.
Murphy is enjoying his best season in a black and white shirt and has made the right-side of Eddie Howe's attack his position to lose throughout this term. It was not too long ago Howe was calling the boyhood Toon fan an 'unsung hero' on Tyneside.
As it stands, Murphy looks set to end the current campaign attempting to supply Isak as usual as the Magpies chase a Champions League spot. More assists like the one witnessed at St James' Park this week - or Wembley last month - and United will fancy their chances of finishing in the top five.
"He just knows where I want to put the ball," Murphy said of his partnership with Isak in February. "When I get into certain situations, I’m looking to hit certain areas. He’s just living in that area.
“We can already do half the job by being in the correct situations. Then it’s down to the execution of the final ball and the finish. We’ve struck up a great partnership and we need to keep doing that.”
