Lille striker Jonathan David is “seriously considering” an offer from West Ham to join them on a free transfer, according to reports.
Claret & Hugh report that the Canadian international’s representatives have been left impressed with what Graham Potter has had to say about the club’s plans and they have been watching games to determine whether he would fit into the manager’s system.
Considering how the team has been performing of late, Hammers supporters on X doubt whether David will be interested in the move:

David has plenty of suitors
One of the main reasons why fans are so sceptical about West Ham’s chances of securing the 25-year-old’s signature is due to competition from other teams.
In addition to clubs on the continent, it is believed that there are at least 3 other Premier League sides looking to snap up the forward, including Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle.
West Ham would have to pay a sizeable wage and signing-on bonus
Another factor that may count against David making the switch to the London Stadium is the finances involved. Reports suggest that the Canadian wants a basic wage of around €9m a year, which works out at roughly £145,000 a year.
That would mean he would become one of the Irons’ highest-paid players along with captain Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta. On top of that, it is also thought that his entourage want a substantial signing-on fee, worth approximately £12.5m.
