Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford continued his impressive form for loan club Aston Villa as he helped them to a 3-0 away victory against Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday night.

After scoring his first goals for the club since joining on loan from United in the weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Preston, Rashford was again on the scoresheet on Wednesday night, this time in the Premier League.

He opened the scoring in the 51st minute at the Amex Stadium in what was his first Premier League goal for Villa. Unai Emery’s side made the scoreline more comfortable thanks to goals from Marco Asensio and Donyell Malen.

Rashford left United in January looking to rekindle his form and it seems he has done just that at Villa Park. After the game, he took to social media to share a message.

Sharing pictures of him scoring and celebrating his goal on Instagram, he added the caption: “Great win away! Lets keep building.” The post was liked by current United players Amad, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Godwill Kukonki as well as former players David De Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Donny van de Beek.

Villa have a £40 million option to make the loan deal permanent in the summer. But his current boss had a clear message for Rashford following his goal against Brighton.

“Keep going is the message for him,” Emery said. “Playing more minutes means he’s getting physically better, he’s scoring more goals.

“We’re playing him as a striker and trying to compete with [Ollie] Watkins. Maybe going forward we can play them together.

“Try to exploit his qualities. He’s in the best confidence moment.

“On Sunday we planned to play him as a striker and he scored two goals so I decided to go again and he scored.”
