Voting is now open for our men’s Player of the Month award for March - but which of the four contenders will you select?
We remained unbeaten in our four matches during the month as we progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League in style, and beat Chelsea in Premier League action to consolidate our second-place spot.
But who was our standout performer? Have a look at the four contenders below and choose the most worthy winner:
Mikel Merino
------------
Our makeshift striker continued to excel in an unfamiliar position by grabbing a goal and an assist in our 7-1 thrashing of PSV Eindhoven during an excellent display by the Spaniard.
He followed that up with the winner against Chelsea with an improvised header to take his goal tally to six for the campaign, with five in the league matching his best-ever career total.
Ethan Nwaneri
-------------
After scoring our second goal in our win in Eindhoven, no player in our 138-year history has ever scored more men’s first-team goals before turning 18 than Ethan as he continues to shine in his breakout season.
February’s Player of the Month continued to impress in our other matches during the month, and earned his first call-up to England under-21s in the process, scoring against Portugal on his first start for the Young Lions.
Declan Rice
-----------
Declan was in the thick of our goals during the month, netting an outstanding strike against Manchester United to draw us level at Old Trafford, before also scoring in the following game as we drew 2-2 against PSV when he put in an all-action display.
He also helped himself to an assist during the first leg in the Netherlands, with his cross seeing Jurrien Timber net the opening goal of a memorable victory and taking him to 13 goal involvements this term.
Jurrien Timber
--------------
That strike was the high point of the Dutchman’s month, as he netted his second Gunners goal when he turned in Rice’s delivery at the back post to get the party started in his homeland.
He also returned the favour for Declan later that week against Manchester United when he set up his super strike, and would keep a clean sheet against Chelsea to top off a fine month for our full-back.
