Marcus Rashford has continued his good form at Aston Villa since joining them on loan in the winter window with another goalscoring performance.
Marcus Rashford followed up his brace vs Preston in the FA Cup with another goal against Brighton in a statement 3-0 win away from home.
After not scoring for nearly four months, it’s now goals in back-to-back games for the Man Utd loanee, with seven goals and assists in his last six appearances in total.
In the process, Rashford might be ensuring that Ruben Amorim gets the summer boost he didn’t expect.

Marcus Rashford giving Man Utd boost
Unlike Antony, where the absence of a buy option ensures United can spark a bidding war for the player, Rashford’s future is set to an extent.
Villa negotiated a buy option worth £40 million when they sealed the loan deal and based on his current form, that sum looks like a steal.
Villa haven’t decided whether they’ll buy Rashford yet, however, because the equation is not that simple and straightforward financially.
That is because Villa are unlikely to be in the Champions League next season and a portion of Rashford’s wages are still being paid by United.

Villa are unlikely to match Rashford’s full package of about £300k/week, especially if there’s no UCL football to fall back on, which makes the £40 million buy option pointless.
That’s a blessing in disguise for United because Rashford has played well enough that he can think he warrants an ‘upgrade’, which means United can rule Villa out after Rashford rejects them and initiate a bidding war for the player.
Rashford helping Ruben Amorim
Due to his status as an academy product, even a £40 million fee would feasibly allow United to spend about £200 million on players on a five-year contract.
That is in addition to the king’s ransom freed up on wages, so the prospect of getting even more for Rashford should have Ruben Amorim salivating.
A blockbuster summer at United awaits and that can be super-charged if the club manages to spark a bidding war and land close to £50-60 million for Rashford’s services.
Much like when Jesse Lingard returned from his West Ham loan, the value of Rashford will be as high as it has ever been so United will negotiate from a position of strength.
It’s not the end of the world if Villa don’t exercise the buy option. In fact, United should pray that they don’t. That’s not a scenario anybody saw coming!
