A huge update on the injury suffered to Gabriel Magalhaes has emerged courtesy of the Arsenal star's wife Gabrielle Figueiredo.
Just 15 minutes into the Gunners' return to action against Fulham, the Brazil international was forced off after feeling his hamstring while sprinting back to defend.
Jurrien Timber also picked up an injury in the first half but was initially able to continue until he was replaced with 13 minutes to play. After the 2-1 Premier League victory at Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta issued a rather worrying update on the duo.
"With both of them, because they are two players in this team that never want to come off, are those two probably and Gabi felt something in his hamstring," he admitted in a press conference.
"We don't know how big that is and with Jurrien as well. He was already struggling very early in the game. He managed to continue, at some point he couldn't. So that's the downside to it."
The Gunners have a huge fortnight on the horizon which includes two Champions League knockout games against Real Madrid.
Judging by how the injury occurred, it appears unlikely he will play in either of those games but there may be some hope he can play in later round if Arsenal beat the holders over two legs.
With many anxiously awaiting news on Gabriel, his wife Gabrielle has provided an update.
"He got injured yesterday [Tuesday] so that is why he is not here with me," she said speaking at an Amazon Prime event for their show Married to the Game.
"He would love to be here and I would love to be here with him but yesterday we got the news that he got [an] injury and now he is with the doctor and is having scans.
"So this is real life and we never expected anything like this. I think the only thing that we can do is be together and be the assurance for each other and that is what I will do when I arrive home today.
"It is not easy but we will try our best to create this bond together in every difficult moment."
While there may be some concern that he is getting scans, they would be required to understand the full extent of his injury.
