Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is said to be in contention to become RB Leipzig’s next permanent manager.
At the weekend, the Bundesliga club parted ways with Marco Rose. Two days ago, claims from Germany stated they have contacted the Austrian’s camp.
Thursday’s edition of Salzburger Nachrichten looks at the possibility of the Crystal Palace boss becoming Rose’s successor.
They relay recent claims from Germany about Leipzig making contact and then give their own take on this case.
Sources close to Glasner have told the Austrian newspaper that he ‘can’t imagine leaving’ English football for Leipzig as it stands.
They state the manager enjoys a ‘great deal of freedom’ with Crystal Palace and is unsure whether he can have similar power at Leipzig, considering Jürgen Klopp is the director for the Red Bull group and how many people make decisions across the group’s clubs.
Klopp, along with Leipzig chairman Oliver Mintzlaff and technical director, Mario Gómez, would be actively involved in major decisions. The report states Glasner will only consider if Leipzig were to give him ‘more power’.
If he agrees, Leipzig then have to negotiate a deal with the Eagles. His contract expires in 2026, and Crystal Palace would request compensation to let Glasner leave.
