PGMOL have admitted James Tarkowski should have been shown a red card for his challenge on Alexis Mac Allister in the Merseyside derby.

Everton defender Tarkowski caught Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister just below the knee with his studs in the 11th minute at Anfield on Wednesday.

Referee Sam Barrott gave Tarkowski a yellow card and VAR did not recommend a review or that the decision should be overturned.

But PGMOL have now acknowledged that was an error and that Tarkowski should have been sent off.

More follows.
