James Cook, running back for the Buffalo Bills, is selling his home in Orchard Park for $710,000. While this may be just another day for Cook, no news coming in about an extension of his rookie contract gives the whole thing a sadder outlook.
However, it is not exactly confirmed as to whether the Buffalo Bills will be extending Cook’s rookie contract as the player in his final season of the agreement. Cook has actually been pretty great for the Buffalo Bills. In the 2024 NFL season, Cook managed a total of 207 carries for 1,009 yards, scoring 16 touchdowns for the team.
The Buffalo Bills had a promising season last time out and finished at the top of the AFC East with 13 wins and four defeats, one spot above the no. 2 ranked Miami Dolphins. The Bills were eventually shown the door in the postseason after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship with a 32-29 final score.
James Cook has been playing for the Buffalo Bills since 2022, after being selected as the 63rd pick in the second round of the NFL draft. Before joining the league, Cook played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2018 to 2021.

James Cook May Not See Contract Extension Anytime Soon
While James Cook definitely deserves a contract extension with the Buffalo Bills, especially after he performed so well during his time with the team, the deal may not be solidified any time soon. Buffalo’s general manager, Brandon Beane, reported that while the team is eager to retain Cook on their roster, they will not be doling out an extension over the next few weeks.
“I don’t see us getting something done anytime soon. We’re on to the draft. Just because we don’t get something done this year doesn’t mean we can’t get something done before he’s a free agent.” Buffalo Bills general manager, Brandon Beane said after the NFL Annual Meetings.

It looks like the Buffalo Bills have set their eyes on the upcoming NFL draft, and will not be making any decisions regarding James Cook’s contract, or anyone else’s contract for that matter, in the next month or so.

The Bills, however, have not been exactly quiet during this NFL offseason. Some time back, the Buffalo Bills extended the contract of their quarterback, Josh Allen. Perhaps, James Cook can keep his fingers crossed for a similar or even better treatment.
