“I fell in love” – Aston Villa’s Enzo Barrenechea explains current situation and outlook

Aston Villa signed Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus in July 2024 and sent him on loan to Valencia a month later.

The midfielder has recently excelled for the La Liga club after a mixed start, especially improving since Carlos Corberán arrived in December.

[Super Deporte](https://www.superdeporte.es/valencia-cf/2025/04/02/enzo-encanta-valencia-ciudad-jugar-115964850.html) have relayed comments made by the Aston Villa owned player to Los Ches’ media.

At the weekend, the Spanish club sealed a 1-0 win over RCD Mallorca, and this helped them climb to the 15th spot, four points above the relegation zone. The Argentine has warned his Valencia teammates they can’t relax until they are mathematically safe.

The Aston Villa man has played close to 1,650 minutes from 24 games for Valencia so far and when asked about his role as an ‘undisputed starter’, he said: _“I think it’s partly due to the work and the trust the coach and my teammates give me; without them, it wouldn’t have been possible._

_“I’m in great form, but the important thing is the group, which is getting better and closer to our goal. I came here with the goal of getting minutes, but what matters most to me is saving the game.”_

The South American also explained the impact of the former West Bromwich Albion boss on him.

_“The coach asks me to provide balance, to distribute, to play forward when I can, to provide assists, and I try to learn and accept what the coach asks of me. I try to add details to my game. I have to score another goal.”_

The midfielder then went on to express his “love” for Valencia.

_“I fell in love with Valencia from the first day. I love everything about it: the club, the city, having my family, the way the people treat me… and that adds a lot,”_ he added.

Last month, [Estadio Deportivo reported](https://sportwitness.co.uk/player-will-let-aston-villa-know-of-transfer-desire-knows-what-he-wants/) Barrenechea wants to continue at Valencia next season. They also stated he will inform Aston Villa of his desire to extend his stay with the La Liga club.

Valencia will find it difficult to buy him, unless they sell a few players.
