Liverpool claimed Merseyside bragging honours last night after winning 1-0 against Everton.
The Reds restored their 12 point lead at the top of the table after Diogo Jota’s second-half goal was enough to secure the victory at Anfield, with Liverpool now four wins away from lifting the Premier League title.
Although Virgil van Dijk was criticised for his performance against Everton, Liverpool fans will not be fussed by the display given how close the Merseyside giants now are to winning the Premier League for only the second time.
And Everton legend Tim Howard has now named two Liverpool players who really impressed him last night at Anfield.

Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota praised as ‘stars’ for Liverpool vs Everton
Speaking on NBC Sports coverage of the match, the former USA international was full of praise for Luis Diaz and Jota, with Howard naming the attacking duo as the ‘stars’ of last night’s Merseyside derby win for Liverpool.
Jota’s well-worked goal was the difference for Liverpool as the Portuguese international bagged one of his most important goals yet for the Reds, with Diaz also giving a good performance against Everton’s defence down the left-wing.

And Howard believes the attacking pair were the two best players on the night for Liverpool, with Diaz and Jota set to play big roles for Arne Slot’s side in the final eight games of the Premier League season.
Howard said: “I think Jota and Diaz, for me, were stars on the night. Liverpool had more quality, they simply did. They don’t want to limp across the finish line, they’re going to get there like everyone expects them to get there to win the title, but they want to do it in proper Liverpool fashion, and I think today was a response.”
Who else impressed for Liverpool against Everton?
Compared to the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park earlier this year, last night’s contest at Anfield was a relaxed affair, with the main talking point being James Tarkowski’s tackle on Alexis Mac Allister that somehow went unpunished.
Although the result is what matters most for the Reds, there were some good performances on the night, with Curtis Jones impressing for Liverpool despite starting at right-back for the first time in his senior career.
Indeed, Liverpool are well on their way to the Premier League title, and the championship could be won in the next four games if Arsenal slip up just once in the same period of time.
