Everton suffered a 1-0 defeat to fierce rivals Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday evening.
It was another drama-filled clash with lots of talking points, in particular, the decision not to send James Tarkowski off for his challenge on Alexis Mac Allister.
Diogo Jota’s goal also caused some controversy, and speaking exclusively to Everton News, Mark Clattenberg has given his verdict on Liverpool’s winner.
David Moyes can certainly feel frustrated by the result, as Everton did have chances to gain a result at Anfield.
Beto hit the post after running clean through on goal, so he will be disappointed with his finishing on the night.
However, Everton fans were impressed by Beto’s display, as he gave Virgil van Dijk the run around, which not many are able to do.
Ultimately, it’s another loss at Anfield for Everton and Gary Neville just can’t understand one decision Moyes decision which could’ve decided the game.

Gary Neville can’t understand why Everton didn’t target Curtis Jones
Speaking after the game, Gary Neville just couldn’t understand why Everton didn’t target Curtis Jones, who was playing out of position as a right-back.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Asked about Jones’ performance by Peter Drury, Neville said: “I thought he did really well. I mean, he played it and it was a comfortable game for him defensively. So you’d obviously say that he wasn’t tested, which I think is a weakness for Everton.
“They should have tried to focus on him. I thought even with simple things like the long kicks, they kept playing it down the throat of Kanate and van Dijk. And sometimes they had a little bit of joy where they got it through.
“But even just putting things on top of him, I think he can compete. I don’t think he would have wilted and sort of gone under on that. But just try and make him feel like, I think when you’ve got a player playing out of position, what you should try and do is pick on him.
“You know, bullying him is a strong word. But that’s what we would try and do. If you see there’s a left back that’s not quite a left back or a center back that’s not quite a center back, maybe he’s a full back.”
Everton don’t have the personnel to target full-backs
Last night was further evidence that Everton really need to sign some wingers in the summer transfer window.
Carlos Alcaraz started on the left flank and given he’s a centre-midfielder by trade, he was never going to cause Jones problems.
Iliman Ndiaye is only just returning back from injury but even he isn’t a natural wide player, so the Friedkin’s have to invest in a pacy and direct winger.
Moyes wants to sign West Bromwich Albion’s Tom Fellows, who is the assist king in the Championship this season.
Fellows is a touchline winger and would provide Everton with something different going forward.
