King’s Business School welcomes Dr Reining Petacchi as its first visitor on a funded faculty exchange programme with the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. Launched in the 2024-25 academic year, this programme is aimed at strategically increasing the research connectivity across both institutions.
Dr Petacchi, Associate Professor of Accounting at the McDonough School of Business, arrived at King’s Business School this term. Dr Petacchi's research examines the economic impact of financial regulations, and how accounting information influences capital markets, corporate activities, and public policy decisions.
She is currently exploring the use of machine learning to analyse the content of audit reports, combining this with data on investor reactions and trading behaviours to challenge the common belief that audit reports contain mostly boilerplate language. During her time at King’s she is eager to make use of its AI expertise and proximity to a major financial hub.
> I am excited about the opportunity to work together with faculty at King’s and look forward to receiving valuable feedback as I prepare my study for journal submission in the coming months. I am looking forward to exchanging research ideas and receiving feedback as I prepare my study for journal submission in the coming months.
