Arsenal boost as defender who got injured v Fulham now expected to be available to face Real…

Arsenal are set to be without Gabriel Magalhaes for a number of weeks but Jurrien Timber is expected to be back in action for the Everton or Real Madrid game after both defenders got injured against Fulham on Tuesday, according to English journalist Sam C.

The journalist who works for The United Stand and Thats Football, and is followed by the likes of Dharmesh Sheth, Simon Collings, David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter) claimed on tiktok that the Gunners want the Brazilian to have further scans today to determine the extent of the injury.

Gabriel came off against Fulham with a hamstring injury, and the problem was exacerbated by the Arsenal star having to play on for more than a minute after the Craven Cottage club refused to put the ball out.

He will not be available to face the Toffees this weekend and Madrid next week, but Timber has not suffered a serious injury and should be available for selection as the North London club look to impress when they host the La Liga club in the first-leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

Arsenal could also be without both Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori for both games due to knee problems, and manager Mikel Arteta could have some selection headaches to solve at the back in those crucial games.

Jakub Kiwior replaced Gabriel on Tuesday while Leandro Trossard came on for Timber, and the Poland international defender has to step up his game as he is likely to feature alongside William Saliba at centre-back against Madrid.

The Gunners need to be at their best at the back against Los Blancos home and away to progress to the semi-finals, and the injury to Gabriel at such a crucial moment of their Champions League campaign is a massive blow.

They remain 12 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after 30 games, and while the Reds need just 13 points to wrap up the title, Arsenal have to fight until the very end as nothing is guaranteed right now for the Merseyside club.
