The European Commission is delaying the release of its 2040 climate target until “before summer,” Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra said today.
Speaking to reporters he confirmed POLITICO reporting that he has faced concerns from capitals and political groups in the EU Parliament over the EU’s plan to cut emissions 90 percent below 1990 levels by 2040.
The Commission had originally promised to release the proposal in the first quarter of 2025.
