Newcastle United assistant coach Jason Tindall was shown a yellow card in the win over Brentford.
A penalty scored by Bryan Mbeumo midway through the second-half cancelled out Alexander Isak’s opener. The Bees then went agonisingly close to taking the lead when Ethan Pinnock’s header hit the post.
But it was Newcastle who nicked a winner in fortuitous fashion after Sandro Tonali’s cross-turned-shot caught Mark Flekken out at his near post. The victory moved Eddie Howe’s side up to fifth in the Premier League table inside the Champions League qualification spots.
But the Magpies were made to wait for the three points and had to dig in after fourth official Thomas Bramall signalled for eight minutes of stoppage time. There were groans around St James’ Park when the board went up and Tindall too looked far from impressed.
The Newcastle assistant coach appeared to have words with Bramall, which NewcastleWorld understands led to his yellow card.
Jason Tindall’s second yellow card of the season - facing ban
It is the second time Tindall has been booked this season after he was penalised during Newcastle’s 2-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers in September.
Trailing 1-0 at the time, Tindall was cautioned after throwing a ball that was on a cone to Joe Willock to take a quick throw-in. Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher explained: “Only the players can get the ball off the cone. Jason is obviously wanting to get the play underway quickly.”
Shortly after, goals from Fabian Schar and Harvey Barnes completed the comeback.

Should Tindall receive another yellow card in Newcastle’s remaining nine matches then he will be forced to serve a touchline ban. As per Premier League disciplinary rules, any manager or coach who accumulates three yellow cards will get an automatic one-game suspension.
Jason Tindall has already received a red card this campaign
Tindall was sent off during the Boxing Day victory over Aston Villa at St James’ Park as tempers flared after Jhon Duran’s red card. However, Tindall avoided any further punishment,
The incident took place in the tunnel at half-time and was described as a ‘mass confrontation’ involving around 20 individuals. Tindall and Aston Villa analyst Victor Manas were both sent off and hit with an FA charge for behaving in an improper manner. Manas admitted to the charge while Tindall denied it.

Following further investigation, the charges against Tindall could not be proven and faced no further action while Manas was been charged and hit with a £4,000 fine and a two-match ground ban.
Both Newcastle and Aston Villa were also charged with failing to ensure players and technical area occupants acted in a proper manner. Both clubs admitted the charge and were found guilty with Villa fined £30,000 and Newcastle fined £20,000.
