Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers quarterback, will be at the receiving end of a contract extension pretty soon, according to recent reports. Team owner and CEO, Jed York not only shed light on Purdy’s contract extension, but also remarked that he as an owner will not exactly be a part of the conversations, according to York’s latest statements.
Purdy surely proved himself and his skill sets on the field after being selected by the San Francisco 49ers as the 262nd pick in the seventh round of the 2022 draft. Before making it to the NFL, the 25-year-old quarterback played college football for the Iowa State Cyclones from 2018 to 2021. In the previous NFL season, Purdy managed a total of 3,864 passing yards, scoring 20 touchdowns along with 12 interceptions.
“We want to make sure that Brock is a long term partner. We want to make sure that he’s a part of our team for a long time. And it’s a decision. I don’t know exactly when we made it, but it was somewhere in the middle of the season, knowing that you can start negotiating at the end of the third year, and it’s like, all right, He’s our guy. It’s not conversations that I’m having, right? Like, I’ve seen Brock a few times at the facility. Like, everything is great. Everything is cordial. And again, like he’s got to make a decision of what he wants to do. Like, well, I don’t think we’re that far apart.” Jed York toldreporter Mike Garofolo about Brock Purdy’s contract extension.

The San Francisco 49ers did not have such a great season last time out and finished fourth in the NFC West, after winning only six games and losing 11. The 49ers played their very last game of the season against the Arizona Cardinals, losing 47-24.

Brock Purdy’s Contract Extensions Required Team To Make Sacrifices
Meanwhile, Brock Purdy’s contract extension is definitely not going to come easy for the San Francisco 49ers. According to team owner, Jed York himself, the management has had to make numerous sacrifices in order to ensure they can manage to actually pay Purdy.

Purdy’s demands are not exactly known, but according to York, the team can definitely pay the quarterback. York also went on to conclude that whenever the quarterback is ready to talk with them and discuss his demands, they are ready to listen. The San Francisco 49ers are seemingly adamant that Purdy is their future, and will be pulling any move to make sure he is happy.
