Roy Keane refuses to give up his criticism of Bruno Fernandes and his leadership as Manchester United captain.
Earlier this season, Roy Keane launched a furious rant at Bruno Fernandes, suggesting he was an “imposter” at Manchester United.
Bruno Fernandes was made captain in 2023 by Erik ten Hag once the armband was taken from Harry Maguire. Since then, Roy Keane has been less than pleased with his leadership skills.
Ruben Amorim disagreed with Keane when it came to Fernandes, with the United coach being highly complementary about his character on and off the field.
Maguire also praised Fernandes’ leadership and as United’s highest scorer and assist provider this season – he is leading by example.

Roy Keane jokes at Luke Littler’s Bruno Fernandes claim
Darts world champions Luke Littler is a big United fan, and he was brought onto the latest episode of The Overlap to discuss his love for the club.
When asked by Gary Neville who his favourite current player is, Jamie Carragher was eager for Luke Littler to say Fernandes: “Please say Bruno…”
Littler nodded his head and agreed: “Yeah, since he’s joined there’s not been a No.8 better.”

The stats back it up that Fernandes is one of Europe’s best midfielders, but Keane couldn’t resist taking another dig at his leadership.
“As a player, yeah, but as a captain…” Roy Keane joked.
Why Bruno Fernandes is a fantastic Man United captain
The biggest criticism of Fernandes as captain is that he can be too emotional on the pitch – but Amorim defends that by suggesting it shows how much he cares about the club.
During a period where United have been through several rebuilds, Fernandes has been the constant that has remained – and has been a shining light.
Amorim said it best when he argued United need ‘more Brunos’ – by that he means players who are always committed, always available and are able to single-handedly win a match. Players like that aren’t so easy to find.

Now aged 30, Fernandes has been linked to Real Madrid but Amorim stressed his importance by saying he is going nowhere.
Amorim has already told Fernandes to stay, and United’s captain remains committed to the club’s long-term project, even if he will be too old by the time the club finally reaps the reward.
