Liverpool are preparing for what could be one of the most significant transfer windows in recent memory, with the club looking to strengthen multiple positions while facing potential departures of key stars.

Liverpool’s transfer activity this summer will be partly dictated by the contract situations of three of their most important players.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah all have contracts expiring in just 89 days.

While Liverpool are pushing to extend both Van Dijk and Salah’s deals, reports suggest Alexander-Arnold is likely to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.

This potential exodus of key talent means Liverpool’s recruitment team, led by newly appointed sporting director Richard Hughes, will need to work diligently to both replace departing stars and strengthen areas that have shown weakness this season.

With an over-reliance on Mohamed Salah for goals and concerns about consistency in the forward positions, the club has identified the striker role as a key area for reinforcement5.

Several names have been circulated as potential targets. Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike has impressed with his prolific scoring record, while Newcastle’s Alexander Isak represents a premium but proven Premier League option

The latest name to emerge in Liverpool’s striker search is Mohamed Amoura, with L’Equipe indicating the club’s concrete interest in the 24-year-old Algerian forward.

It is claimed that Liverpool have even made an enquiry over the purchase of the Algerian international.

Amoura, currently on loan at Wolfsburg from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, has been described as “a proper data signing” and “one for the nerds” due to his impressive statistical profile

His recent international performances have only increased his stock, with Amoura scoring a brace against Botswana before netting a hat-trick against Mozambique in Algeria’s World Cup qualifying matches at the end of March.

What makes Amoura particularly attractive to Liverpool is his versatility and athletic profile.

The Algerian plays approximately two-thirds of his games as a central striker and one-third on the left wing, demonstrating a flexibility that would suit Liverpool’s fluid attacking system. He has even featured as a number ten at times during his career.

He has managed 33 goal contributions this season for club and country, including 10 Bundesliga goals in 24 appearances.

L’Equipe adds that both Nottingham Forest and Arsenal have made enquiries of their own for the 24-year-old.

Amoura is reportedly valued between €35 million and €40 million, which is the amount Wolfsburg is expected to demand during the upcoming off-season if a formal offer is made. The Algerian forward remains under contract with Wolfsburg until June 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year.

Furthermore, Wolfsburg’s potential qualification for European competitions—currently sitting 9th in the Bundesliga—could significantly influence their decision regarding Amoura’s future, according to the report.
