Leeds United are now assessing their goalkeeping options ahead of next season, and appear likely to recruit in the position.
Illan Meslier has endured a difficult campaign in which he has cost Leeds a lot of points through individual errors, and these mistakes have put their promotion charge in jeopardy.
Leeds do see the long-term potential in Meslier, but if they are promoted to the Premier League, they will need a more reliable option between the posts.

Leeds interested in Chelsea goalkeeper Petrovic
The Whites have now reportedly set their sights on Chelsea prospect Djordje Petrovic, but many factors will play a part over any potential summer transfer to Elland Road.
Leeds are assessing their options ahead of next season, and the uncertain goalkeeping situation at Chelsea could now benefit them.

According to TEAMtalk (2 April), Leeds are eyeing up a move for Petrovic, who has spent the season on loan at Chelsea’s partner club RC Strasbourg in France.

Petrovic for Strasbourg this season
However, Chelsea do not yet know whether they will want to keep the 25-year-old for next season. Enzo Maresca will reportedly decide his goalkeeping options in pre-season. Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen have both been unconvincing, and Mike Penders is also set to return to Chelsea.
Should Petrovic find himself low down in the pecking order, he could become an option for Leeds, and this may prove to be a smart move.

Can Petrovic replace Meslier for Leeds?
Petrovic is the same age as Meslier, so even if Leeds are believers in the Frenchman’s potential, the Chelsea loanee could replace him in the short and long term.
Many Leeds fans have reached their breaking point with Meslier, and a move away could be beneficial for the goalkeeper and his club.
Petrovic has impressed in the French top flight this season, and has also made 31 senior appearances for Chelsea.
The Serbian international would certainly be a more Premier League-ready option than Meslier, and could be a smart addition if Chelsea sanction a move for him.
Petrovic was Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper in the second half of last season in difficult circumstances, but did impress at times with his quick reflexes, and now has a lot more experience under his belt.
