La Liga giants Real Madrid have this week seen their chances of advancing to the semi-finals of the Champions League afforded a boost.
This comes amid confirmation that a leading member of the defensive ranks at Arsenal has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The player in question? Gabriel Magalhães.
Defender Gabriel, for his part, was forced into a premature departure from Arsenal’s most recent outing.
En route to a 2-1 Premier League victory over Fulham on Tuesday, the Brazilian went to ground off the ball early on, before being quickly hooked by boss Mikel Arteta.
Gabriel, in turn, was put through a round of medical scans on Thursday morning.
And as alluded to above, as much confirmed the worst fears of all of a Gunners persuasion.
As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, the former Lille standout requires surgery on his hamstring, ruling Gabriel out for the remainder of the campaign.
The stopper, in turn, will not be available for selection for either of Arsenal’s upcoming Champions League fixtures against Real Madrid.
