Arsenal Linked With Shock Transfer Move For£86 Million Manchester United Flop This Summer

Arsenal have reportedly been linked with making a move to sign Real Betis winger Antony, who is on loan from Manchester United.

The Gunners are set to sign a winger in the summer with their priority target being Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, who has a £48m release clause in his contract.

They want to add a wide player to replace Raheem Sterling who is currently on loan from Chelsea. His loan spell will end in June, and Arsenal aren’t expected to try and land him on a permanent basis.

In a surprising development, reports in Spain have emerged suggesting that Arsenal could sign Antony after his loan spell at Real Betis ends in June. He moved to Betis in January and has since seen a revival in form after struggling badly at Old Trafford.

Antony has made 12 appearances for the La Liga club, scoring four goals and providing four assists, in what has been somewhat of a transformation based on his previous form at Manchester United.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Mikel Arteta is set to make the winger a top target as United will likely be looking to sell him in the summer window. If the Red Devils want to avoid a loss regarding Profit and Sustainability Rules, they will need to sell Antony for no less than £32 million.

Antony could be a cheaper alternative to Nico Williams

It would be unlikely that Arsenal see Antony as their first-choice target winger this summer due to his poor performances previously in the Premier League with United.

However, if the Red Devils are keen to get rid of him, he could provide a cut-price alternative to Nico Williams, especially considering that it has been reported that Williams is wanting a wage amounting to the region of £250,000 per week.

That would make him the third-highest earning Arsenal player behind just Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, both of whom have been injured for a large part of this season.
