Man United Transfer News: Victor Osimhen Swap Deal Emerges As Possibility Amid£67M Offer

Man United could swap Alejandro Garnacho with Napoli for striker Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils are set to add a striker in the summer due to the poor performances from both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who have combined for six goals in the Premier League. Ruben Amorim’s side are one of the lowest-scoring in the league, and will be keen to address the attack in order to climb further up the table and into Europe next season.

Victor Osimhen has been a long-term target of United. He is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasary from Napoli where he has fallen out of favour under former Chelsea and Spurs manager Antonio Conte.

Despite that, Osimhen’s form has not faltered, netting 28 goals in 32 games for Galatasaray this season, as he remains one of the most prolific strikers in European football.

In a report by the Daily Star, it was suggested that there is a possibility that Napoli would be prepared to swap Osimhen if United offered winger Alejandro Garnacho in exchange. The Argentine was linked to Napoli in January, but no move materialised.

Garnacho is expected to command a fee of around £67 million this summer, and Osimhen has a release clause of £63m, meaning a swap would be of similar value to both sides. Furthermore, United would get extra leeway if they sold Garnacho as he is an academy product, meaning they would get ‘pure profit’ with regards to Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Osimhen emerging as a frontrunner over Gyokeres

It had been previously reported that Man United were keen to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, who thrived at the Portuguese club under Ruben Amorim.

However, more recently, it seems as though Arsenal have become the frontrunners to sign the Swedish international following their appointment of Sporting Director Andrea Berta.

If that is the case, then it would leave only Chelsea to rival United for Osimhen, but if they offered a swap deal early in the summer, an agreement could be easy to come by.
