Danny Rohl is a possible target for Leicester next season if Ruud van Nistelrooy leaves the club in the event of relegation.
Sitting 12 points adrift of safety with eight games remaining, the Foxes look destined for an immediate return to the Championship.
Van Nistelrooy signed a deal until June 2027 when he replaced Steve Cooper last autumn but Leicester have declined under the Dutchman, losing 14 of their last 15 league fixtures.
Asked about his future last month, Van Nistelrooy said: ‘I signed a contract for two more years after this one. I was aware when I arrived what the challenge was and how difficult it could be. I was aware of that and committed to that future.’
But should Leicester and Van Nistelrooy part ways at the end of the campaign, Mail Sport understands Rohl would be prominent in the Foxes’ thoughts.
The German has done a fine job at Sheffield Wednesday, steering the club to safety last season in his first senior role – despite inheriting a team that looked certain to drop straight back into League One when he took over.

This term, the 35-year-old has kept the Owls well clear of the lower reaches of the table, and they still have an outside chance of reaching the play-offs with seven games remaining.
Rohl, who is believed to have a significant compensation clause in his contract, is known to have impressed Foxes recruitment chief Martyn Glover when both were working at Southampton.
Indeed, the impression Rohl made while working for former boss Ralph Hasenhuttl at Saints in 2018-19 means he would be a contender for that role too if Ivan Juric leaves at the end of the campaign.
