FRISCO, Texas (KLTV) - The New England Patriots are trading quarterback Joe Milton III to the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN.
The Cowboys are sending a compensatory fifth-round pick to the Patriots for Milton and a seventh-round pick.
Milton will become the Cowboys’ backup to Dak Prescott after Prescott’s longtime backup, Cooper Rush, signed with the Baltimore Ravens last month.
Milton was selected in the sixth round of last year’s draft by the Patriots. He was the third string quarterback in New England behind Drake Maye and Jacoby Brissett. Milton appeared in one game, completing 22 of 29 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown.
