The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, which was launched in Strasbourg on June 25, 2012, with the aim of achieving the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and ending the Imrali torture system, continues with determination.
The action, which is carried out every week by groups of Kurds living in Europe and their friends, has entered its 667th week. A group of activists from the women’s movement took over the vigil on Thursday.
In a statement to the press, group spokesperson Muşride Oltan noted that the vigil has been going on for 13 years and said, “The resistance of Leader Öcalan and the Kurdish people prevented the occupying enemy from achieving their goals.”
“Our heads are held high thanks to the resistance of our leader and our people,” said the group spokesperson and expressed their support for the new process initiated by Abdullah Öcalan with his historic ‘Call for Peace and Democratic Society’ on February 27.
Muşride Oltan vowed that, “We will be in action until our leader regains his freedom.”
